AHMEDABAD will host, for the first time, a two-day International Technical Conference On High Pressure Laminates from February 26, 2010.
Apart from foreign delegates some 150 delegates (both manufacturers and raw materials suppliers) are expected to participate in the conference, said Jikesh Thakkar, general secretary of Indian Laminates Manufacturers Association (ILMA).
Though India witnessed several conferences on laminates at different locations, it is for the first time that India is hosting an international technical conference, aiming at improving the quality of laminates.
It may be recalled that the total market size of laminates is around Rs. 4,000 crore and the industry is witnessing an annual growth at the rate between 25% and 30% of which the export amount ranges between Rs 500 crore and Rs 600 crore, mainly to Far East, Middle East, Europe, Latin America, Africa, Russia. Manufacturers are also flooded with enquiries from SAARC countries like Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal and Myanmar. The ILMA is also planning to set up a full-fledged institute in Gujarat to cater to the needs of skilled and semi-skilled workers, supervisory staff and other technical staff.

Besides manufacturers and technical experts working in the laminate industry, technocrats from the Germany based Schatt Decor engaged in manufacturing printed base paper required by the laminate industry world over are also addressing the seminar.
Representatives of the Germany-based 'Hymen' engaged in the manufacturing of Continuous Press for laminates, will also take part in the technical conference said Rushil Decor managing director Krupesh Thakkar. |
